Smith was an American Revolutionary War patriot, and a U.S. Senator. He was a member of the committee to frame the U.S. Bill of Rights. Rock Castle is set on 18 acres, and is listed with the National Register of Historic Places. It is three stories tall, and in its time it was considered a mansion. Construction was interrupted by Indian attacks, resulting in the construction of the home taking seven years to complete. Overall, it is a beautiful home, and it has a rich history, making it a very interesting place to visit.
